However clients send their paperwork, Ledger reads it.
Scanned bundles, phone photos, supplier PDFs and WhatsApp forwards. Ledger's agent splits them into documents, reads every line, files each one to the right client and period, and checks it against UAE law. Your team only reviews the exceptions.

From a client's pile of papers to a checked, ready-to-file VAT return

Every payment, matched to its bill
A quarter's bank statement for Al Noor Building Materials, read line by line, each payment paired with its bill, salaries and duty marked as needing no document, balances agreeing, and the whole thing downloadable to Excel.

Drop the pile in, skip the keying
Scans, photos and PDFs go into one window; Ledger sorts them, reads every line and files each to the right ledger.

Prove the zero rate before you file
Al Noor's export declarations and bills of lading are linked to the sales they support, Trade checks shows which zero-rated sales still lack evidence, and the client's import declarations are checked against the FTA's own list.

Let your clients send the bills
A portal in your firm's branding where clients send bills from their phone and answer requests, switched on client by client, with the firm told each morning what came in.

File Form 201 without keying a figure
Al Noor's third-quarter VAT return drafts itself from reviewed documents: standard-rated sales split by emirate in Box 1, imports in Box 6, recoverable VAT in Boxes 9 and 10, and nineteen thousand four hundred and thirty dirhams to pay in Box 14, with the PDF and audit Excel ready to hand over.

The work before the work
Most of a bookkeeping quarter goes on getting documents into shape.
It arrives in every format
Phone photos at an angle, scanned bundles, supplier PDFs, WhatsApp forwards. Nobody sends paperwork the same way twice.
One file, forty documents
A client scans a whole month into a single PDF. Someone has to find where each invoice starts and ends before any entry gets made.
Whose is it, and which quarter?
Before a line is coded it has to be matched to the right client, the right ledger and the right tax period, usually by hand.
The intake agent
Every file goes through the same four steps, without anyone sorting it first.
- 1
Splits
Large files are broken into pages, and pages are grouped back into separate documents, so a 200-page scan becomes the invoices inside it.
- 2
Reads
Text-based PDFs are read directly; scans and photos go to vision models. Counterparty, TRN, dates, amounts and VAT, with a confidence score.
- 3
Sorts
Each document is placed in sales, purchases or expenses by matching the client's own TRN and name, then filed to the period its date falls in.
- 4
Checks
Every line is tested against UAE tax rules. Anything uncertain, from low confidence to a TRN that isn't 15 digits, is held for review with the reason.
Batches run in the background. Close the tab and come back to the result. The original reading of each document is kept next to any correction your team makes.

Built on a compliance platform
Reading documents is the start. Getting them right is what Arakan does.
Arakan maps UAE businesses to the regulations that apply to them and tracks whether they meet them. Ledger runs on the same foundations: the same legal library, the same evidence store and the same review controls. Extraction is checked against the law, not just stored.

Checks that cite the law
Ledger's rules are linked to articles in Lexara, Arakan's library of UAE legislation. Each flag names the article it comes from, so a reviewer can read the source.
Custody of every original
Each file is kept in Vault, Arakan's evidence store, encrypted and with its own audit trail. Every figure on a return traces back to the page it was read from.
Review before anything is final
Returns move from draft to review to approval. Approval is blocked while flags or uncoded lines remain, and the period locks once the return is filed.
From documents to filings
Checked lines feed the VAT 201 return box by box, and the Corporate Tax and advisory workpapers your team signs off.
Getting started
Your first client's documents, read today
- Step 1
Add your clients
Each client becomes its own entity with TRN and licence, so documents can be recognised as theirs.
- Step 2
Send in the paperwork
Drop a batch, or let clients send it on WhatsApp. You see the page count before reading starts.
- Step 3
Review the exceptions
Confirm what's held for review, clear the flags, and approve the return.
