Security and where your data is
Files you upload to Arakan are stored in the UAE, encrypted, with a fingerprint and an audit trail. This page sets out where each part of your data is kept and processed, so you can decide with the facts.
Where your data is
Your documents
In the UAE
Files you upload are stored in AWS me-central-1, Amazon's UAE region, encrypted at rest (AES-256). Or connect your own storage, such as your own S3 bucket, and they are kept there.
Your records in Arakan
Outside the UAE
Company details, obligations, extracted figures and audit logs are held in our application database, run by our database provider outside the UAE.
The application
Outside the UAE
The servers that run the Arakan apps are in our hosting provider's Singapore region.
AI features
May be outside the UAE
Reading documents, answering questions and drafting reports send the text being analysed to our AI model providers, which may process it outside the UAE.
How records are protected
Each document gets a SHA-256 fingerprint when it arrives. Checking it later shows whether the file has changed.
In Vault, a sealed document is locked read-only until its retention period ends, so it can't be changed or deleted before then.
Vault records every upload, seal, view and check, with the user and the time.
Owner, Admin, Member, Viewer and Auditor roles, set per app, with named duties such as MLRO on top. Firms can limit a person to the clients they're assigned. Every change to who can see what is logged.
We don't use your data to train AI models.
We don't share your data with other organisations without your consent.
Documents in Arakan-managed storage stay in the UAE region.
You can keep your documents in your own storage instead of ours.
Email support@arakan.ae and we'll walk you through it, or send a written data processing agreement before you sign up.
