Visas and residency
How owners, directors and staff get UAE residence, and why it matters for the company: its visa allowance, its board, and where it is resident for tax.
A UAE company sponsors residence visas for its owners and staff. How many depends on the licence package and, in many free zones, on the office you take. Compare visa allowances before you choose where to set up.
The Golden Visa is a long-term residence visa for groups such as investors, entrepreneurs and skilled professionals, issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) or, in Dubai, the GDRFA. It does not depend on an employer's sponsorship. The criteria change from time to time; check them with the issuing authority.
